Behavioral Curriculum

My beilef in a classroom is care. I believe in caring for students as people, not just as students.

My one rule would be discipline. It is important for not only the teacher, but they needed to be disciplined for themselves to hold themselves accountable in life. \

A one day schedule for my class (kindegarteners) would look like this:

8:00: English (Reading and wiritng)

     8:00: Reading a personal book

     8:15: classroom instruction

8:55: Put away english materials and take out math materials

9:00: Mathematics

     9:00: classroom instruction

     9:30: group work

9:45: Snack

9:45: wash hands and take out snacks

     9:50: snacks

10:00: Science

     10:00: take out supplies

     10:05: instruction

     10:35: lab

11:00: Dance + P.E. (switch every other day)\

     11:00: locker rooms

     11:10: P.E. instruction

     11:50: locker rooms

12:00: Lunch/recess

     12:00: Lunch

     12:40: Recess

     12:55: Go to classroom

1:00: Computers/Technology + Art (switch every other day)

     1:00: Go to art/technology room

     1:10: instruction

1:50: go back to regular classroom

2:00: Social Studies

     2:00: take out supplies

     2:45: Pack up

     2:50: Go to busses

3:00: Go home

They would be expected to eat breakfast at home. I have never heard until now of eating breakfast at school.

As a procedure I would have the students get a book and go to their assigned reading spot in the classroom for the first 15 minutes of class while everyone arrived.

Top 10 Procedures:

1. Classroom library

2. Fire drill

3. Lining up

4. Getting into work groups

5. Pledge

6. Lunch count/ Attendance

7. Throwing away trash

8. Using the school bathroom

9. Using the drinking fountain or sink

10. Using the pencil sharpener

I would use a star chart for positive reinforcement.

To correct behavior, I would use a card chart. There would be 4 levels: green, yellow, orange, and red. The latter colors would mean bad behavior. The automatically start with green. Yellow is a warning. Orange is a call home. Red is meeting with the principal or parents come in.

Crisis plan: Send student to the principal's office immediately escorted by a faculty member.

To implement this, I would use posters and have students sign a contract.
